Frazzled But Happy Stay-at-Home Mom

Heavens to Betsy, is it October already? My goodness, how has school already been in session for a whole month? And here I am not even started on the kids' Halloween costumes! Suzy Lou is going to be a gypsy and Billy Boo will be a hobo. They will look so adorable and I will make sure I post pictures of the kids. And before you ask, of course I am going to make their costumes from scratch. At first they wanted to just go to the Wal-Mart and buy their costumes. Billy wanted to be something called Iron Man and Suzy wanted to be a Pussy Cat Doll, but after some persuading they finally agreed that my ideas are much better. Cuter for sure, LOL.

Tomorrow the whole family is getting into the mini--van and driving to the local pumpkin patch to choose our jack-o-lantern. It will be so much fun. I have already made candied apples for the road and tomorrow morning I will make some homemade apple cider to put in our family size thermos. Goody! Hopefully hubby will be able to join us this year. Last year he got a tummy ache at the last minute and wasn't able to go. The poor thing had to stay in bed all day while we spent the afternoon admiring the fall colors and going on a hayride. He really wanted to go too, I could tell. But I insisted that he stay at home and take care of himself. He promised he would stay in bed all day even though we would be out having fun. I took down the Honey Do List from the refrigerator and made him pinky swear that he would not get off of that mattress. And when we got home, he was sound asleep in bed just as I knew he would be. The covers were a mess so I knew he had been tossing and turning all day. He must have had a terrible dream with night sweats because the sheets were even damp in a couple of places. And the bedroom had that funny bedroom smell that it gets sometimes. He told me that he stayed in bed the whole day and that when he wanted a drink of water he didn't want to break his promise. So what did he do? He called our neighbor Gloria over to get one for him. (Gloria, you are the sweetest divorcée I know and thank you for dropping what you were doing to come help hubby. And by the way, if your washing machine is still broken you can use ours anytime. Just don't forget your brassiere this time, silly goose!) Anyhoo, this year hubby will be fine for our Autumnal outing, (I wuv you, Hubby! Can't wait for tomorrow!)

Well, I must be going. It's Saturday and I haven't even baked my bread, ironed my sheets, waxed the floor or clipped my coupons yet. Hubby worked late last night so I let him sleep in today and I mowed the lawn for him this morning. Rest up, sweetie! Tomorrow we get to go find a pumpkin, pun'kin! LOL!

Frazzled But Happy Stay-at-Home Mom

Several weeks ago on a post about comments someone suggested that I "grow up, have a family and write about something that matters." I wrote about The Frazzled But Happy Stay-at-Home Mom and I got a real kick out of it. Since I am not waiting tables right now (full time actor, you know...) I thought it would be a good time to have entry #2 from that adorable housewife.

Heavens to Betsy, dear readers! This day has been full of surprises and I am so behind on my housework that I shouldn't be writing at all today, but I couldn't resist so here I am. LOL. I awoke this morning at 4:52 (a whole eight minutes before my alarm was set to go off!) to Suzy Lou climbing into bed with me because she had a bad dream. Or as she says it, "bad dweam" which sounds so cute that it brings tears to my eyes. Thank goodness last night was not a night that Hubby shares a bed with me or he would have been so cross if he would have woken up three hours before he needed to. He was in his bedroom/office/study/man cave and sound asleep. (Note to self: I must remind him to give me a key to that door today because I have not dusted in there for days and days and he probably has clothes all over the place that need washing.) I asked Suzy Lou what her "dweam" (LOL) was about and she said she only remembered that it was about her being in ballet class without her tutu and all the other little girls were making fun of her. How horrible for her, poor dear. I dreamed once that I was at the grocery store looking through my coupon wallet when I realized that I was in nothing but my slip and pantyhose and my hair was in curlers! It was awful and I woke up embarrassed. I tucked Suzy Lou into bed with me and the little angel was asleep within two minutes. I got up at 5:00, grabbed my list of chores and got to work. After ironing Hubby's clothes (I love you, Sweetie if ur reading this, LOL), making his lunch, baking bread for his breakfast toast, and picking blueberries for his oatmeal, it was time to take a bath, set my hair and do my make up so that by the time he woke up at 8:00 I looked like how he likes to see me: fresh and clean and as pretty as the day we met. (By the way, have I told you that story before?? He saw me in a beauty contest he was judging for and asked me on a date the day after I got second place. The girl who won first was named Veronica. She went out on one date with Hubby the night before the beauty contest. She was very popular. She went out on one date with each of the three judges but I guess things didn't work out for her, because one date was all she ever got with each of them. And they all took her to a drive-in movie to see the same movie three nights in a row! Hubby still sees her once a week because she has had a hard life and he feels like he can give her good advice. Isn't he the bestest?? So sweet and giving. I wuv you! She may have won the beauty contest but I won my Husband! LOL.)

Oh dear, look how much time I spent writing about Hubby when I meant to be telling you all about how my washer broke down today and I had to wash everything by hand in the sink. My poor hands, LOL!! Never fear though. I will make sure I put Vaseline on them tonight and sleep with gloves on so that by tomorrow when it's time to give Hubby his weekly massage, my hands will be just as soft as a baby's bottom. The last time that my hands were too rough he took away half my allowance. I didn't know how I was going to pay for groceries that week but I dipped into my secret stash of dollars that I keep in the cookie jar on top of the refrigerator. (Don't read that, Hubby, okay? LOL. I wuv you so so much. And if you are reading this please tell Veronica that I said hello when you see her tonight and I hope things pick up for her, the poor thing. And I won't wait up.)

Frazzled but Happy Stay-at-Home Mom

I loved this one that I wrote a few weeks ago when someone told me to "grow up, have a family and write about something that matters." So I tried it. And yes, I am still on vacation. And probably drunk right now.

Frazzled But Happy Stay-at-Home Mom writes:

Oh my stars, you won't believe the day I had today, dear blog readers. First off, I awoke to the smell of coffee. That's right! My husband got up before me and made coffee and it's not even Mother's Day! (But our anniversary is coming up if a certain someone is reading this. Hee hee! LOL!) I went into the kitchen and saw my darling hubby drinking his coffee and reading the newspaper over the sink. He told me he couldn't sleep and that's why he had already gotten up and made coffee. Oh well, I thought it was for me. But he's still the bestest husband in the whole world. LOL!!. He went off to work and I set about my day.

I went to wake up Suzy Lou and she looked so cute in her Strawberry Shortcake sheets that I didn't have the heart to wake her up. She was wrapped up like a mummy and I almost laughed so hard that it would have woken her up. Lucky for me, she sleeps like a log so she didn't hear me. LOL! I took a picture of her so I will be posting it as soon as I get a chance. I went to wake up her brother Billy Boo. The little angel had thrown his Thomas the Tank blanket off the bed and he wasn't covered up at all. My goodness, I hope he wasn't cold last night. (Reminder to self: set the alarm for the middle of the night to make sure he is still covered up.) He woke up and rubbed his little eyes and asked me if he could have pancakes. And guess what! I couldn't resist! So even though today was bacon and egg day, I made him pancakes. A mother's work is never done, LOL. I still made Suzy Lou her scrambled egg whites and crispy bacon so my morning routine was a little off. It really threw me in a tizzy to be so off schedule but sometimes we moms just have to let the kids know how special they are and be wild and crazy. It's these special memories that make being a stay-at-home mom such a blessing. Praise God and all his blessings, Amen. LOL!!

The kids had a play date today and their friends Peter, Paul and Mary came over. Their mom Jenny is a doll and we love that our kids enjoy each other so much. Plus when Jenny comes over we will split a glass of White Zinfandel so we moms have our own "play date" too. Shhh! Don't tell my husband that I was drinking on the job. He might fire me!! LOL! Just kidding. He would never fire me for that. As long as I have dinner on the table when he gets home from work, he is happy. Besides, I know he reads this anyway. (Hi honey! I wuv you!)

After the play date was over, I put the kids down for a nap. I read them a story first and Billy Boo did the cutest thing. He wanted to read the story to me!! Can you believe it? So he took the book and "read" to me. It was darling! I videotaped the whole thing and I will be posting it soon so you can see for yourself how precious it was. And Suzy Lou played along and pretended that he was reading too. She is such a good big sister, isn't she?? Hugs to her. I LOVE MY KIDS!!

I spent the rest of the day doing my usual routine. Laundry, dusting, sewing, gardening, and then I capped it off with churning some homemade butter. That class I took at the Learning Annex on turn of the century homemaking is really paying off! My husband will be so pleased when he gets home and sees that yummy butter on the table! Maybe tonight we will finish off that White Zinfandel and have our own romantic evening. (hee hee!) After the dishes are washed and the kids are in bed of course.

And there you have my day, dear bloggers. I have the best life in the world. The most perfect family!! And I love that I can blog about something that really matters.

love,

The Frazzled but Happy Stay-at-Home Mom
