"Can You Wrap This Up?"

Sometimes it would be easier for the customer to just take one more bite of food rather than finding a to-go container.

I went to a great Mexican / Spanish restaurant in Fort Lauderdale the other day, and when I asked for a to go box for my leftovers, he came back to the table and very neatly placed my leftovers in the box for me. I, as a server, used to hate when people would ask me to put there nasty food in a box, but it was really nice to have it done for me, and in front of me so that I didn't have to fight my imagination about how I would later die, from kitchen nastiness. It's the little things...

Ot they could just throw t away instead of waist the pacakging required for a to-go container.

And I don't know what that was, but it looks kinda gross.

I meant WASTE the packaging.

Sorry.

But sometimes the meal is SO delicious, you can't bear to waste one single bite!!

Tell them you're out. I would do that all the time.

I prefer to transfer my own food rather than to have the waiter do it and put in food I really intended to leave. My friend takes it as a sign of her superiority to watch the waiter do it. "It makes me feel good for him to do it."

If I want to take home a bit of food I paid for, that is my right. However, I can see your point.

If I take my own Tupperware, I waste nothing and feel safer not putting styrene into my bloodstream.

"Waiter, I wish to retain this portion for my Chihuahua. Fetch me a box for it, and also a to-go cup of water with cucumber. I will accept water with lemon if you you have no cucumber, and I will need that two minutes ago so that my dining companions may continue sitting at the table for twenty minutes after you've dropped off the check..."

even better is when they leave the leftovers behind. *sigh*

I mean, after packaging and such.. they leave it on the table. WHY?! why oh why do people DO that? No. They did not forget, as I reminded them when they stood up. *sigh*

How funny...when you mentioned transferring your own food I thought about a certain piece of Tupperware that is PERFECT for this! I actually sell Tupperware on the side, so that's what made me think of it.

The "Flat Out Bowls" are perfect for this; they are the kind of bowl that you can flatten out so they take up practically no room in your purse (they can also be thrown right into a lid drawer) and then you can expand them one piece at a time so you don't have a bigger bowl than what you need.
(Hopefully that last part made sense...I've been drinking, to be honest, and sometimes I don't always get my words across in the best way.)

And if anyone still can't picture what I'm talking about, just google "Tupperware Flat Out Bowls." I freaking love them to death!
