Happy 4th Birthday, Bitchy Waiter

Today is a (not really all that) special day. Four years ago, the Internet was introduced to The Bitchy Waiter. On December 8th, 2008, I sat down at my computer and wrote my very first post. It was called You're a Horrible Parent. It's almost like things have not changed at all. Since that day, the bitching has continued. This post is #901.

Seeing that the blog is now four years old, I wanted to see what kind of developmental skills it should have based on a four year old child. According to a Google search a four year old kid should:
  1. Get along with people outside the family.
  2. Draw circles and squares.
  3. Ride a tricycle.
Okay, I clearly fail at the first expectation. Between Springs1and the occasional feud with another blogger, I obviously don't know how to get along well with others.

Yes, I can draw circles and squares but I'd rather draw a draft beer.

I can probably ride a tricycle if my knees would allow such behavior but they don't so we'll just say "fuck that" and I will ride a broom instead.

This post is short and sweet since nobody reads this shit on Saturdays anyway, but I could not let the day pass without acknowledging this (not at all) monumental achievement.

In all seriousness, I would like to say thank you to everyone who reads, comments, shares, likes tolerates and ignores The Bitchy Waiter. Thank you, all. If you feel like it, leave a comment below so I know that more than my Mom reads this.

xo,
BW

I check every day BW, just to see if you have thrown a crumb (a post) or a good snack (a video). I love your blog that much! And Happy Birthday! Since it is the blog's birthday, see if you can scam a free cocktail or cake or have your co workers sing Happy Birthday!

I've been an avid reader for the last year and a half. Also I've made a point to recommend your blogs, anytime I go out to eat to my servers. Lastly, you epitomize what every server feels, thinks, and desires. Thank you!

Often, when I get a free second at work to breathe & realize that I hate everyone (except my bartender), I step outside, drink my coffee-cupped goose & soda, & read your latest post. Sometimes it makes me hate things less. Sometimes just a little more. However, knowing I'm not the only one getting weeded & enduring the Red Hat Ladies & their fucking extra lemons & ranch helps. Oh God, does it help! Happy 4th!

Your mom may read your post but she isnt the only one! Happy birthday BW! Know you have viewers who love this blog. If I may offer, though it may be off topic for this blog 10 worst gift ideas I think your sense of sarcasm mixed with humor would be awesome! I hope you do :)

Yes, I agree with Valerie in new mexico. Yes, write a blog about 10 worse gift ideas for the holidays.

Happy Birthday I love your blog. Starting reading after the Dr Phil show with the crazy entitled parents who think it is ok to ruin everyone's meal so they can take their savages out. ( I am the mother of 3 savages so I know what I am talking about)
Keep up the good work. (oh and thanks, I can never have a lemon in my diet coke again!)

    On a side note...
It's a wonder you get any comments at all. What the hell kind of font is that 'Prove you aren't a robot' box.
Half the time I can't figure out what is says and just ignore the comments. I had to go through a couple just to get one I could read.

I am not a waiter, although 35 years ago I slung hash, wiped tables, emptied the rubbish and snuck free food to the de-institutionalized mental patients at a local eatery.

This is an excellent blog which is as much about the human condition as it is tipping etiquette.

Happy Birthday, BW! Let the good times keep on rolling!

Amazing! I think your blog is everything Right...all those things that need to be said that people don't get to say anymore, things that people need to hear, that people get so damn offended about. Keep writing! We need more BW! Every time I read I laugh aloud. Thank you!

Happy Birthday Mr. Bitchy. I honestly think we are the same halves of a whole. You write exactly what I would have written. It's like you're in my head. I love every one of your posts.

Serving tables is my profession. 35 years old and I have done it all in the restaurant business. What initially started as a way to feed myself through college is now supporting a family of 4. I work breakfast from 8-4 in a cafe 5 days a week and 4 nights I part time manage an Italian place and wait tables there occassionally. I see every kind of customer there is. And they almost all suck ass. ButI love it.

I don't have a blog but i do write. I'd love to contribute some work that I have done before if youre interested for some guest posts?

I've been working in restaurants for 10+ years now and I like what you do! Keep up the good work, I enjoy the majority of it!
